The Mad Bad Ad Show is a brand spanking new comedy entertainment series hosted by Mark Dolan.
Going beyond the traditional question and answer games of the common or garden panel show, The Mad Bad Ad Show brings together an original mix of challenges, comic banter and a bit of ad-land insight.

Each week team captains Micky Flanagan and Mark Watson are joined by a famous guest and an ad industry insider to be quizzed about classic ads from the past, present and overseas.

The team captains are also challenged to shoot their own adverts with the studio audience voting for the best one.

Kicking off the first show Micky and Mark are joined by comedians Holly Walsh and Joe Wilkinson and the ads are themed around confectionery.

The Mad Bad Ad Show

Mark Dolan plays host while team captains Micky Flanagan and Mark Watson are joined by Jason Manford, Matthew Crosby and an ad industry insider for the second show.

The theme is smoking, and the teams face questions about classic ads from the past and present and are challenged to shoot their own adverts which will be judged by the studio audience.

The Mad Bad Ad Show is a brand spanking new 45 minute studio based comedy entertainment series that lifts the lid off the advertising world.

The show aims to get behind all the perfect promos, publicity and puff that we have pushed in our faces every day and find out exactly how we, the public, are persuaded to buy, buy and buy.

The show features two competing teams, led by the comedians Micky Flanagan and Mark Watson, who are each paired with a leading advertising industry insider who provides a genuine insight into the mysterious and murky world of marketing.

Going beyond the traditional question and answer games of the common or garden panel show,The Mad Bad Ad Show brings together an original mix of challenges, panel show banter and documentary insight. It involves classic adverts, funny adverts from overseas, and even adverts made especially by the teams for the show.

It involves classic adverts, funny adverts from overseas, and even adverts made especially by the teams for the show.

The MBA show (as absolutely no one is calling it) is being made by Objective Productions, producers of award winning hit comedy shows such as John Bishop’s Britain, Star Stories and Peep Show.

Channel 4′s Commissioning Editor for Entertainment Madeleine Knight said: ‘We all connect with famous ads but we don’t always know why. Why do drum-playing gorillas make you buy chocolate or meerkats sell insurance? In this new panel show, Micky Flanagan and Mark Watson join some of the ad industry’s biggest names to examine the science of adverts and come up with some ads of their own for impossible-to-sell products.’

 

Executive Producer Lee Hupfield said ‘It’s about advertising. So it’s going to be absolutely amazing. I wouldn’t lie to you, would I?’
The pilot was commissioned by Madeleine Knight and Executive Producers for Objective Productions are Lee Hupfield and Paul Gilheany. Series Producer is Chris Sussman.

The Mad Bad Ad Show pilot will be filmed in July.
